Rabinovich, Itamar

Rabinovich, Itamar
(1942- )
   Born in Jerusalem, he was educated at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, and University of California, Los Angeles. He served as professor of Middle East history at Tel Aviv University and founding member of the Shiloah Institute and the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies, as well as Israel's ambassador to the United States (1992-96) and chief negotiator in this period in talks with Syria sponsored by the United States. He served as president of Tel Aviv University from 1999 to 2006.
